Service Policy
We service most standard bicycles, including road bikes, mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, city and commuter bikes, BMX, and cargo bikes. Our team is committed to high-quality, honest work — we will never perform or recommend service your bike doesn’t need.
Every service visit begins with a free, comprehensive assessment. For bikes with complex or unexpected issues, we’ll communicate our findings and get your approval before proceeding with any additional work.
E-Bike Service Policy
We’re certified to service e-bike motor systems from most major brands, but not every e-bike is supported — and Illinois law draws a firm legal line between e-bikes and higher-powered "e-moto" vehicles we’re not equipped or insured to service.
Questions about your specific e-bike? Contact us or call (773) 739-9119 before booking.
Appointments
We offer scheduled service appointments to minimize the time your bike spends in the shop. Booking an appointment requires a $50 deposit, which goes directly toward the cost of your service — it’s not an extra charge, just a way to hold your spot on our schedule.
Plans change. If you need to cancel, just let us know at least 24 hours before your appointment and we’ll refund your deposit in full.
Once your bike is with us, our team typically turns appointments around in 2–3 business days — fast enough that you’re not without your ride for long, and unhurried enough that nothing gets rushed.
To schedule an appointment, call (773) 739-9119 or email info@wheeliegoodbikeschicago.com.
Estimates & Pricing
Our service package prices reflect standard labor for each tier. Every bike is different — your final cost may vary based on your bike’s condition, component wear, or required parts.
- All estimates are provided before work begins
- Parts costs are in addition to labor unless noted
- No additional work will be completed without your approval
If you have budget constraints, let us know — we’ll work with you to prioritize safety-critical repairs and make a plan for the rest.
Fees & Rates
- Diagnostic Fee: $50, for e-bike diagnostics. If you approve the repair, it’s applied toward the cost. If you decline, the fee isn’t refunded, but you keep a written diagnosis either way.
- Labor Rate: $140/hr, billed in 15-minute increments, for work outside our standard service tiers and à la carte pricing.
- Storage Fees: See Drop-Off & Pickup below.
- Right to Refuse: For safety, legal classification, or parts availability reasons, we reserve the right to decline service.
Parts & Warranties
We use quality components from reputable suppliers and will discuss parts options with you — including budget-friendly alternatives — so you can make an informed decision.
Labor Warranty
Our labor is warrantied for 30 days from the date of service. If something we worked on isn’t performing as expected, bring it back and we’ll make it right at no charge.
Parts Warranty
Parts warranties vary by manufacturer. We’ll provide documentation for any warranted parts installed and help you navigate the warranty process if needed.
Drop-Off & Pickup
When dropping off your bike, a staff member will check it in and provide an estimated completion time.
- Bikes not picked up within 14 days of completion notification may incur a storage fee of $5/day
- Bikes not picked up within 60 days of completion notification: we’ll make every effort to reach you, including email, a phone call, and a certified letter. If we’re still unable to reach you after these attempts, the bike may be considered abandoned and donated or sold at our discretion
Please remove personal items from your bike before dropping it off. We are not responsible for lost or stolen accessories left with the bike.
Returns & Refunds
Accessories & Parts
Unused items in original packaging may be returned within 30 days of the purchase date with a receipt for a full refund to your original payment method, or exchange.
Installed Parts
Installed parts generally aren’t eligible for return unless defective. If a part fails due to a manufacturer’s defect, we’ll help you file a warranty claim with the supplier — outcomes and timelines are set by the manufacturer, not guaranteed by us. If the part is replaced under warranty, reinstallation labor is billed at 50% of our standard rate, since the failure isn’t either party’s fault.
Service Labor
Labor charges are non-refundable once service has been completed. If you’re unsatisfied with the quality of our work, please contact us — we’ll do everything reasonable to make it right.
Service Labor Guarantee
Our labor is guaranteed for 30 days from the date of service. If something we worked on isn’t performing right within that window, bring it back and we’ll correct our workmanship at no extra labor charge. This covers our labor only — not new parts, normal wear, or issues unrelated to the original service.
Special Orders
Special order items are paid in full at the time of order.
- Canceled before we place the supplier order: full refund, no fee
- Canceled after the supplier order is placed but before it arrives: 15% cancellation fee, 85% refunded
- Once the item has arrived, special orders are not returnable
Sales tax on any refunded item is refunded accordingly, via your original payment method.
Bikes for Sale
All bikes sold by Wheelie Good Bikes are inspected and serviced before being offered for sale. We stand behind what we sell.
- New bikes: covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, plus free fit and mechanical adjustments from Wheelie Good Bikes for 1 year from the date of purchase
- Used bikes: all are tuned prior to sale. Any implied warranties are limited, to the extent permitted by law, to 6 months from the date of purchase — matching our free adjustment period below
- All bike sales are final
What the free adjustment period covers: brake/derailleur adjustments, cable tension, and headset/wheel truing for normal settling-in. It excludes wear items (tires, pads, chains, cables), crash/misuse damage, and e-bike motor/battery issues — see our E-Bike Service Policy or the manufacturer’s warranty.
Have questions about a specific bike? Come in and take it for a spin — we encourage test rides.
Trade-In Policy
We accept bikes for trade-in toward the purchase of a new bike in our shop. Trade-in value is assessed at drop-off based on the bike’s condition, make, model, and current market value.
- Trade-in credit can only be applied toward the purchase of a new bike — not a used bike, parts, or service
- All trade-in values are at our discretion and are final
- We reserve the right to decline trade-ins that are not in serviceable condition
- You must be the legal owner of any bike traded in, free and clear of any lien, and we may ask for photo ID and a signed statement of ownership at drop-off
- Trade-in bikes become property of Wheelie Good Bikes upon acceptance
